Rangers fc Breaking News Butland to Sign Pre Contract #shorts

Rangers are reportedly on the verge of completing a deal to sign former England international Jack Butland.

Gers boss Michael Beale is in the market for a new shot stopper with doubts hanging over the future of veteran Allan McGregor.

Butland is out of contract with Crystal Palace at the end of the season and The Scottish Sun reports that the 30-year-old will become the Ibrox club's first summer signing.

Butland has found game time hard to come by in recent years and has yet to make a single appearance this campaign.

The goalkeeper joined Manchester United on loan in January as back-up to David de Gea and was on the bench for the weekend's FA Cup semi-final win over Brighton at Wembley.

Capped nine times by his country, Butland started his career at Birmingham City before moving to Stoke and then Crystal Palace in 2020.

Should he agree on a pre-contract move to Ibrox, Gers would become the eighth club of his career after various loan spells with Man United, Derby County, Leeds United, Barnsley and Cheltenham Town.

Butland's arrival could spell the end of McGregor's illustrious career as the 41-year-old weighs up retirement. McGregor will start between the sticks against Celtic at Hampden on Sunday as he aims to lead the Light Blues to another Scottish Cup Final.
