Danny Christie halted Anthony Holmes via fourth-round TKO in the BKFC 40 main event.
Christie captured the BKFC UK light heavyweight championship in the process but it was far from easy. He mentioned being rocked a few times in the bout but eventually scored a knockout in the later stages as Christie and his team theorized.

Christie felt he respected Holmes too much early on. He quipped the previously undefeated champion was good with his distance and feet making Christie miss as Holmes also simultaneously connected with sharp strikes that obscured Christie’s vision.

When asked if a year or two years ago if he could ever see himself holding a belt over his shoulder, Christie said “No, I actually wouldn’t. Two years ago, I was in a hole and I didn’t know where I was going, you know? Now thanks to God, thanks to my new direction, my new outlook, here we are.”
“I want to thank Alice, my girlfriend, who I love to bits and of course, my kids back home. Archie, Sophie, Lily, Georgie, and D.J., I love you all. This was for you. I love you all. My babies forever.”
Christie’s loved ones give him the drive and mental fortitude to persevere at this level in bare-knuckle boxing.

Christie a recovering addict recently celebrated being a year clean. Christie stated no substance on earth can mimic the feelings he’s currently having with blood trickling down his face and a title belt adorned on his shoulder. “Better than sex” as he put it.

Danny Christie also said he’d be down to give Holmes a rematch after taking him out in his own backyard. The new champ said he’d even run it back on neutral territory. Also said he could see himself training with someone like Holmes as Christie again praised his good feet and how he had Christie missing a few times.

Despite buzzing in his euphoria, Christie has been praying that his opponent is all safe after being down for a while following the fight-ending sequence. With Holmes, he said, “I don’t think he’d have beat a count of about two hundred” on that last knockdown.

As far as what’s next beyond that aforementioned potential Holmes sequel, Christie does seem to have a few possible options. Names like David Round and dual division BKFC titleholder Lorenzo Hunt came up as Christie prefaced that he doesn’t do callouts but is game to run it with anyone.
