Walt Disney World has changed the way that they do their rides and ride reservation system. In the past you could get up to three paper fast passes to kind of plan your day out. When you used one of those three you could get another one. They've gone away from that to a virtual page system called genie Plus, and you can also pay a premium fee to ensure that you get on specific rides. That's what we did.

We purchased a lightning lane experience for Star Wars: rise of the Resistance. Why am I talking about rise the Resistance when we're talking about riding slinky dog you might be thinking? Well, our lightning Lane reservation time was for between 7:00 and 8:00 p.m., however the ride went down right before our boarding started. As it approached 8:00 we met up with a cast member to try to figure out what we could do.

The solution was pretty simple, they transferred our lightning Lane purchase from Star Wars rise of the Resistance to Slinky dog dash, but in addition they still would let us use our rise of the resistance lightning Lane if it happened to come back up before the end of the night. As such we were able to ride both rides and not just one!

I don't love the fact that you have to pay for something that used to be free, but I have to admit the cast members one above and beyond to make sure that we had a great time and a great experience. The Slinky dog dash is one of our favorite rides, and we were actually able to ride it the very first week that it was open. Now again, it's still amazingly fun and beautiful at night. This is one of the rides we cannot recommend any more highly at Disney's Hollywood studios.
