National Security Advisor says US embassy in Sudan is ‘only temporarily suspended’

Late Saturday evening, the U.S. embassy in Khartoum, Sudan was evacuated and temporarily shut down as warring militaries continued to battle across the country. At a White House press briefing Monday, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said the U.S. is committed to aiding the Sudanese people and plans to resume embassy operations “as soon as it is safe to do so.”
