In Alberta, Canada, the United Conservative Party has proposed legislation that sounds good on paper, the "Compassionate Intervention Act". It would involuntarily place people with drug addictions into treatment if they MIGHT pose a risk to themselves or others.
However, it is not as good as it seems, mainly because it would legislatively give the government more powers to infringe on people's bodily autonomy.
