Since April 21, Carlson's Twitter page hasn't updated, and the Tucker Carlson Today page hasn't been updated since April 18, three days before his final broadcast. As of noon Eastern on Monday, Carlson had not made a public remark regarding his breakup with Fox, and it was unclear what his upcoming ventures would include. You may also not know that Dan Bongino also left Fox News. What is going on?
After taking over for Bill O'Reilly in Fox's prime-time lineup in 2016, Carlson emerged as the network's most well-liked figure. We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor,” the press release from the network said.
Days prior, Fox and the manufacturer of voting machines, Dominion, negotiated a $787.5 million settlement. Dominion filed a lawsuit against the network because it permitted users, including Carlson, to report on the security of the voting machines in the 2020 election.
To avoid going to trial in the case brought by Dominion Voting Systems, Fox News agreed last week to pay the firm around $800 million. Just as opening comments were about to begin, the astounding settlement was announced, bringing the lengthy legal battle that Fox News had been through to an abrupt end. Along with several other senior Fox executives, Carlson was scheduled to testify throughout the trial.
"Truth is important. After Superior Court Judge Eric Davis announced the agreement, Dominion attorney Justin Nelson warned reporters outside a Delaware courthouse that lies had repercussions. It's unclear whether Tucker's departure from Fox had anything to do with the complaint. The primetime host has long been a contentious figure and a hero of the right. He frequently raises issues such as the 2020 election and the attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6. Carlson and his team received an astonishing level of access when newly elected Speaker Kevin McCarthy revealed thousands of hours of surveillance footage from the Jan. 6 incident with them after Republicans won control of the House in the 2022 midterm elections. Democrats and other critics instantly denounced the action as effectively outsourcing House oversight. Carlson, who hosts their highest-rated show, has long been supported by Fox management and the corporation as a whole.
