Landmark of Yueyang City in Hunan Province in China Demolished by Directional Blasting

The former landmark of #Yueyang City in #Hunan Province, the 71.85-meter-high International Building, was demolished by directional blasting at 2 pm on April 20th, and it became history forever. It only took 9 seconds from the first explosion to the collapse. The blasting team prepared for two months and placed 2500 detonators inside the building.
According to official reports, the International Building, built in 1985, once played an important role in receiving foreign guests and "made outstanding contributions to Yueyang's image promotion, tourism, and economic development... In the 1990s, with the continuous deepening of the market economic system reform and the backwardness of enterprise management concepts, the once glorious International Building began to gradually decline."
Now demolishing the International Building is to "replace the old with the new" and embark on the road of "rebirth after Nirvana" for high-quality economic and social development.
