Meeting Between Ethiopia, Libya And South Yemen To discuss The US Military Exercises In The Region

Meeting in Addis Abba between Ethiopia, Libya and South Yemen, three countries who signed a defense pact in August 1981. All were considered allies of the Soviet Union. The meeting was called to counter "Brightstar", the United States military exercise which was being held in the region.

Exercise Bright Star is a series of biannual combined and joint military exercises led by the United States and Egypt. The exercises began in 1980, rooted in the 1977 Camp David Accords. After its signing, the United States Armed Forces and the Egyptian Armed Forces agreed to conduct training together in Egypt.
