The United States hit its debt ceiling in January. Since then, the Treasury Department has been keeping the nation afloat financially. However, the deadline for a default is inching closer and President Joe Biden and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy still aren't seeing eye-to-eye on the matter. U.S. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy says that the House will have enough support to pass his $1.5 trillion debt ceiling increase plan this week.

U.S. House Speaker, Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA): “We do have a very small majority, only five seats, one of the smallest we've ever had. But I cannot imagine someone in our conference that would want to go along with Biden’s reckless spending.”
