Collin Gow, C.N.C. goes foraging in Florida with his son on a Class C primitive trail on EASTER! Together they identify and discuss wild, edible and toxic plants, lichens, and fungi and their biological actions, health benefits, nutritional properties, and ethnomedicinal uses. They encounter pine flatwoods, freshwater marsh, and hardwood swamp habitats. Special finds include: Climbing Hempvine (Mikania scandens), Blackroot (Pterocaulon pycnostachyum), Coastalplain Staggerbush (Lyonia fruticosa), Frostweed (Verbesina virginica), Warty Sedge (Carex verrucosa), a gilled mystery mushroom, blueberries, and more! A fun EASTER CHALLENGE for the whole family appears at the end of the video too! Subjects such as botany, morphology, phenology, phytochemistry, ethnopharmacology, folk medicine, traditional medicine, natural medicine, and Native American (American Indian) medicine come up while on the hike.
