In this video, i play guitar along with Beethoven as a backing track

Genuine Relic - The Story Of The Guitar

https://rumble.com/v28e54q-genuine-relic-the-story-of-the-guitar.html

The guitar is a Fender Squire Bullet

Made in Indonesia

Neck stamp says IC OCT 03

ive spent some time cleaning up this guitar, and making adjustments.

The bridge plate seemed to have been mounted 1/4” too close/short,

and so the Lowest E string etc could not be intonated within the mechanical limits of adjustment.

Eventually, i decided to grind off the back side of the bridge saddles, so that they could be adjusted further back, making the string longer, and long enough to intonate properly.

I may still have to do a little more grinding on the saddles, because it seems like some notes are still hard to NOT play slightly sharp.

Also, in this video im testing out my video equipment, my tripod, my remote-control dongle,

Trying to figure out the best camera angle,

the best distance between me and the camera,

And between me and the background curtains,

And the best spot to stand so that there is good enough lighting to clearly see fine details such as facial expressions and finger movements,

But also enough shadowing so that theres a contrast, which makes the movements seem to POP out at the viewer.

And also the best place to stand, so that i can properly hear myself within the mix of sounds,

After reviewing this video, the backing track seems to have overpowered my guitar sounds, and sometimes the guitar seems to fade into the background mix

I can simply adjust the mix, to put my guitar sounds more front-and-center,

and/or add a small guitar amp up closer to the video camera, as a sound monitor/amplifier.

And also trying to get the lighting right, which is not easy and takes a lot of experimentation.

as you can see, theres a spot light behind the camera, and so theres a shadow of the camera on me, and its visually distracting.

Also, i am using a white guitar strap which im not sure if i like or not, but its the only strap i had at the moment.

I like the idea of a white strap, like a white belt in martial arts.

Start at the bottom, with a white belt, and work your way thru the colors until you have a black belt.

So the white belt is a symbol of humility here.

Im still just a beginner, so please be gentle.

The guy who sold me this guitar mentioned that it had the purest sounding sine wave output of any guitar he had ever heard…

and i thought that was an interesting observation on his part, and i wondered why that might be true.

Perhps its because this guitar has the most basic electronic curcuit i have seen on any guitar.

1 hum-bucker pick-up (pup)

1 volume knob

1 output jack

After playing it for a while, i can say that it does play nice for me, but i have big hands and fat fingers so maybe this guitar wouldn’t play as well for you.

Im wearing white socks, which makes it easier to see my feet move.

Hat tip to Michael Jackson for that idea!

I may try to go barefoot in other videos.

you should play music in bare feet, for the same reason you play music with bare hands.

If you are playing music correctly, you are using your hands and feet equally.

Im using a bright yellow guitar cord, which is visually distracting on the floor. A black cord would blend into the background better.

But a black cord is also more likely to get stepped on and broken because you don’t see it…

My stage curtains weren’t adjusted correctly, and you can see gaps in the curtains.

This video was taken in a basement studio, and the floor is slightly sloped toward the floor drain.

Therefore, if you stand and play guitar very long, your hips and lower back will become tilted and jacked up.

So you gotta stand with your feet facing the floor drain, so your hips and back, etc don’t get all jacked up.

Im basically just going thru the motions of making videos, and trying to improve my art and music.

This video represents is a big mind-set change for me, because before i would be like,

“im going to practice guitar”

And now im like,

“Im going to practice making videos”

Wish me luck!

Thanks for watching!
