Being good stewards of God's creation! #shorts #earthday #creation #earth

On earth day, we’re reflecting on the Creator & His beautiful creation! In Genesis 1, God gave man the honor of caring for the earth, all the animals that live on it, every plant & tree - everything that has the breath of life in it. In verse 31 we see God viewing His handiwork & pronouncing that “it was very good”.

As believers & stewards of the earth, the responsibility to take care of creation is just as important today as it was when Adam and Eve were given charge on day 6. God cares about how we treat each other, God cares about how we care for animals, God cares about how we take care of the land, God cares about how the food we eat is grown! He cares because He created it for us!

Maybe you have a farm, maybe a small backyard, maybe you live in a condo. What can we do to take on this stewardship in any situation we live in?
🌱Grow a garden: in your backyard, on your porch, at your church, find a community garden, or find a local farm to buy from! If you don’t know how to garden, find someone to do it with & learn!
🌱Raise chickens in your yard, find a friend that has a yard & help them raise chickens, or find a local farm or backyard chicken friend that you can buy eggs from! Know exactly where your eggs come from, what the chickens are eating (bugs, food scraps, etc), & that they are happy & healthy.
🌱Find a local farm that raises animals on pasture & takes good care of them. Not only will you be supporting a neighbor, but you will know exactly where the meat/milk you feed your family comes from.
🌱Already know how to garden or raise animals? Find someone who needs help getting started! You can be a huge blessing to them!
🌱Save your food scraps for composting & chicken food. If you don’t have a compost pile or chickens, give your scraps to someone who does!
🌱Buy in bulk. Don’t have the budget or space to buy bulk? Find someone else to do it with!
🌱Find ways to use less plastic, including using cotton grocery bags, using glass jars/containers for storing food, & carrying a re-usable water bottle.
🌱Need more ideas? Pray about it! Ask God to show you ways you can make changes in your home. Talk to your church community about things you can do together!

What do you and your family do to help steward God’s creation?
