Protect Our Children Legislation Protest of SB 5599 - April 21st, Olympia WA

Parents and Guardians from all over WA state came to decry the recently passed legislation SB 5599 that came after its final passage through the senate vote through a 29-20 ratio of the yeses to noes to what was named "Protect Health Care/Youth" on the house floor.

Opposition have pointed to language in the bill that would block the revealing of information upon inquiry based on gender self-IDing "health care" where it only takes the child to be self-IDing even in distress to be obscured from public records request over any child's location which parents and guardians say will make the act of kidnapping easier for criminals and/or clinical doctors who go against the health decision of children's parents/guardians.

Opponents conflate the opposition to dis-affirming Trans-youth but did not elaborate the reasoning to opposition as most of those documenting/reporting could not ask supporters basic questions before being blocked or assaulted as seen in the footage above at least until the end of the actual demonstration(s).

The opposition included all Senate Republicans and most House Republicans while those in the demonstration though many being conservatives, held to a non-partisan observation in respect to many including same sex couples with untransitioned children as well as organizations dedicated to opposing Trans-surgeries on minors all across WA state.

Supporters including Majority Democrat Senators/Legislators from WA state as well as various student/far left activist bases from community/school groups that involve kink and/or self-ID affirmed politics including those involving those underage as talked of in the legislation and in testimony even to the confirmation of some opposed to the legislation.

Many media both national broadcast as well as independent held ones by reporters such as former KOMO's Jonathan Choe, News2Share's Ford Fischer, as well as various video-documenters, activists, and local news channel reporters. Some of these reporters were assaulted while most were blocked off from access to supporters when asking them for comment and/or after being barred from crossing the center of the courtyard.

This occurred with some cases of confrontation/altercations (some of which are still obscured at the time of this publishing) but the peace was maintained for most of the two demonstration sides' durations of stay.

Documenting occurred in Olympia, WA on the Capital Grounds on Friday, April 21st, 2023.
