Leaders Of 3 Of The Largest Political Parties In Nigeria Meet To Negotiate An Anti-NPN Alliance

Nnamdi Azikiwe, Nigeria's first Governor-General and (ceremonial) President; Chief Obafemi Awolowo, a former Premier of the Western Region and Federal Commissioner for Finance; and Waziri Kolo Ibrahim, a Minister for Economic Development during the First Republic hoped to forge an alliance against the party led by Alhaji Shehu Shagari.
They met without Alhaji Aminu Kano, the other leader with whom they hoped to work towards this goal.
