Good question.

Investors poured a record €359 billion into European property, with a focus on homes and warehouses as they moved away from offices and shops, which were negatively affected by the pandemic. Large-scale rental housing, known as multifamily or build-to-rent developments, saw a significant increase, with €102.6 billion invested, which was 42% more than in 2020. Offices received €111 billion in investments, but that figure was 20% below 2019 levels due to uncertainty surrounding the future of work. Meanwhile, investment in the retail sector continued to decline, down 11% from 2020 at €35.2 billion.
