For when we believed in Christ, our souls were redeemed (we are born again) filled with the holy spirit of truth that reveals Jesus Christ as God to us - its not our works- it is the holy spirit. (So that NO MAN MAY BOAST and pride and death seek him out)
Yet, we await the redemption of our bodies on that Day when Christ returns

Here's how verse 23 begins: “And not only this, but also we ourselves having the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves, groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our body. For in hope we have been saved. But hope that is seen is not hope.
