Milling Stone Ground Grits , yum . Cherokee , North Carolina #shorts

I grew up in the Carolinas so of course I still love Grits . When I was a kid we would go to the mountains of North Carolina every other year and visit Cherokee , North Carolina and Maggie Valley , North Carolina . My mom had a small cabin in Chimney Rock , North Carolina when I was really young and unfortunately she sold it when I was like 6 years old . I wish I had that cabin ! We would usually stay in Maggie Valley when I was older and would of course go to Ghost Town in the Sky to see the Old West Town and Amusement Park .

I have so many memories of this area . I recently went with my family and one of the places we stopped at was the Saunooke's Mill . It is a cool place with a water wheel to turn the milling equipment to ground Grits ( White and Yellow ) , Fish Fry Corn Flour , and other items . They have a souvenir shop with t-shirts and various items from the area . The Great Smoky Mountains is a beautiful place to vacation and visit the area . It is rich with history and has a nice museum . If you want to stay in a more modern hotel then they have the Harrah's Cherokee Casino and Resort . I prefer to stay at one of the many local hotels which many have small streams running behind the hotels and motels .

All the Mom and Pop places have wonderful Southern Food and the best breakfast dining . I did by a bag of the grits to take home .
