What little I know about the sports world is that those who are champions always go into the game believing they can win. However, believing is not the end of the story. If you're going to win, there must be preparation ahead of time to condition yourself to win.
We could argue which one would be the most important, the psychology of it or the physical training and practice. If you talk to the winning coaches of the football teams, they can always pick out those who will be champions; the others will be washed out before the year is through.
A group of young men show up at the beginning of the year and take the same training to prepare for the game. However, there are only so many positions available, and eventually, those without the right attitude and confidence that they can be winners get set aside.
You're supposed to be any different in the battle in the game that we are in. I don't.
The world talks about the 12-step program for those recovering from addiction. They encourage that person to attend a weekly meeting so that they can be encouraged and strengthened by others testifying about their victories.
That sounds like the apostle Paul, when he said, don't for sake, the assembling of yourselves together, and do it more often if you see trouble coming. It sounds to me like he was preparing us to win. And if you're going to win, you've got a belief you can win.
Those of us who are in Christ or winners because of what he has done for us.
