torms and hailstorms have caused havoc in parts of Germany and Austria, with many areas experiencing flash floods and damage to buildings and crops. The storm system moved across the region on Wednesday, bringing heavy rain and strong winds.

In Germany, the southern state of Bavaria was particularly hard hit, with reports of hailstones the size of tennis balls damaging cars and buildings. The town of Kaufbeuren was among the worst affected, with local authorities declaring a state of emergency.

Meanwhile, in Austria, the states of Salzburg and Upper Austria saw significant damage from the storms, with flooding reported in several areas. The city of Salzburg saw hailstones measuring up to five centimeters in diameter, causing damage to roofs and vehicles.

Emergency services in both countries were called into action to deal with the aftermath of the storms. In Germany, around 1,000 firefighters were deployed to help clear debris and provide support to affected communities. In Austria, the army was called in to assist with the clean-up operation.

The severe weather is believed to have been caused by a combination of warm air from the south and a cold front moving in from the north. Forecasters warn that more storms could be on the way in the coming days, and have urged people to take precautions and stay safe.
