ילד בן 13 באוהיו, ארה"ב, נפטר לאחר שהשתתף ב"אתגר" נטילת יתר של כדורי בנדריל ובלע 12 כדורים.
הילד וחבריו האמינו שבליעת הכדורים תגרום להם להזיות אך בסופו של דבר הילד סבל מהתקף אפילפסיה שגרם למוות מוחי.
טיק טוק כבר עומדת בפני בדיקה קפדנית של הקונגרס האמריקני וישנם ניסיונות לאסור כליל את השימוש בה בכל ארה"ב, ובה בעת גם מקומית במספר מדינות. סביר להניח שמותו הטרגי של הילד יחמיר עוד יותר את החששות של המחוקקים מהאפליקציה הסינית.
