Russian security services said they detained a Ukrainian man in Crimea on Wednesday, April 19, who they said was planning to sabotage an energy facility in Kerch, according to Russian media.

Footage released to Russian media on April 19 showed armed officers enter an apartment and handcuff a man inside while they conduct a search. The armed men then show a video to the camera that the FSB said showed an energy facility. The man is then led away.

The security forces said they found explosives, as well as means of communication, which they said contained correspondence with the Ukrainian special services in preparation for the sabotage operation, Zvezda News reported. Storyful has not confirmed this information.

The man was taken into custody charged with preparation for sabotage and illegal possession of explosives. The crimes carry potential life sentences, Zvezda said.
