Crowds cheered in South Padre Island, Texas, on Thursday, April 20, as the first test flight of the SpaceX Starship launched in the area, and exploded midair shortly after. Elon Musk’s company was aiming to send the nearly 400-foot (120-meter) Starship rocket on a round-the-world trip from the southern tip of Texas, near the Mexican border. It carried no people or satellites. Musk later said the team “learned a lot for [the] next test launch in a few months.” This footage was captured by Karlita Munoz, who said she filmed it from South Padre Island early Thursday.
