The Champawat Tiger was a notorious man-eating tigress responsible for the deaths of an estimated 436 people in the Himalayan region of northern India and Nepal during the early 20th century. The tiger was believed to have developed a taste for human flesh after being injured by a poacher and being unable to hunt her usual prey. Despite efforts to capture or kill the tiger, it evaded all attempts and continued its deadly rampage until it was finally shot and killed by Jim Corbett in 1907. The story of the Champawat Tiger has since become a legend in the region and has been the subject of numerous books, films, and documentaries.
