Date – Wednesday, April 19th - 2023 – St. Leo IX

St. Leo IX, born in 1002 and died in 1054, was a remarkable saint who came from a noble family and excelled in every ecclesiastical office he held. Known for his exceptional appearance, intelligence, and erudition, he was also a talented musician and composer of hymns. Despite his noble upbringing, he was known for his humility, patience, and charity towards the poor. He made yearly pilgrimages to Rome and was deeply loved by the upright souls of his flock. He faced difficulties with unwavering constancy and was considered a fighter in his pursuit of sanctity. He was elected as Pope, the highest position in the Church, and was appreciated by the wise men of his time. He shone like a lighted candle in a room that received its light, illuminating all of Christendom. St. Leo IX was a masterpiece of God's creation, showcasing His splendor in the saints and exemplifying the virtues of a grand seigneur. His sanctity was a triumph of the spiritual life, and he is remembered as a remarkable and admirable saint in the heavenly court, with Our Lady as the faithful mirror in which one can contemplate Our Lord Jesus Christ Himself.

Veni Sancte Spiritus
COME, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Thy faithful and kindle in them the fire of Thy love.
V. Send forth Thy Spirit and they shall be created
R. And Thou shalt renew the face of the earth.
Oremus:
O GOD, Who taught the hearts of the faithful by the light of the Holy Spirit, grant that, by the gift of the same Spirit, we may be always truly wise, and ever rejoice in His consolation. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
