Canada: Conservatives on federal public service strike, defunding the CBC – April 19, 2023

Conservatives speak briefly with reporters on Parliament Hill as the federal party holds its weekly caucus meeting. MPs Brad Vis, Stephanie Kusie, Pierre Paul-Hus and Senator Pierre-Hugues Boisvenu respond to questions about the potential impact of the strike involving more than 150,000 public servants across the country. The Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) and the federal government failed to reach an agreement before an evening deadline on April 18. Boisvenu is also asked about his party’s position on defunding the CBC and the differences between the English public broadcaster and Radio-Canada.
