Canada: Liberal MPs comment on day one of federal public service strike – April 19, 2023
Ministers speak with reporters on Parliament Hill as the federal Liberal party holds its weekly caucus meeting. Mona Fortier (president of the Treasury Board) comments briefly as she is asked about the first day of the federal public service strike and whether her government would introduce back-to-work legislation. Karina Gould (social development), Sean Fraser (immigration), Jean-Yves Duclos (health), Patty Hajdu (Indigenous services), Dan Vandal (Northern affairs), Marco Mendicino (public safety), Omar Alghabra (transport), and Mary Ng (international trade) respond to questions about the potential impact of the strike involving more than 150,000 public servants across the country. The Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) and the federal government failed to reach an agreement before an evening deadline on April 18.
