K-pop group ASTRO’s Moonbin has died at age 25. According to Yonhap News, Moonbin was found dead in his house in Seoul’s Gangnam-gu by a manager in the late evening of Wednesday, April 19. Police are still investigating the cause.

Fantagio Music confirmed the news of Moonbin's death with a statement on ASTRO's official social channels on April 19 (April 20 on Korean soil), asking fans to respect the family's privacy and sharing that both family members, ASTRO members, and staff were deeply saddened. The company also confirmed Moonbin's funeral will be private, per his family’s wishes.

Moonbin, known mononymously, had been an active member of the K-pop group ASTRO since 2016. He officially re-signed his contract with Fantagio Music alongside all the other members of ASTRO, minus Rocky, in January 2023. In recent years, Moonbin had also gained notoriety as part of the group’s first official subunit, Moonbin & Sanha, comprising himself and fellow member Yoon Sanha. The duo put out their first EP, In-Out, in 2020. They made their most recent comeback in January 2023 with their third EP, Incense. They started their first tour, called the DIFFUSION tour, in Seoul on March 18 and 19 and were scheduled to visit Macau, Taipei, Jakarta, Tokyo, and Osaka in April and May.

The same day Moonbin’s death was announced, Moonbin & Sanha were announced as part of the lineup for the upcoming 29th Dream Concert alongside the likes of ITZY, NMIXX, and Dreamcatcher. The concert is scheduled to take place at Busan’s Asiad Main Stadium on May 27. Organizers have not announced any changes as of now.
