Netflix to end DVD by mail service at end of 2023.

Netflix will mail the final discs on September 29th. Netflix shipped more than 5 billion discs over the life of the company. The first Netflix DVD was mailed in March 1998 and it was Beetlejuice. The most popular Netflix DVD was “The Blind Side.”
In March, Netflix has 232.5 million subscribers overall worldwide.
Netflix does not disclose how many people pay for the DVD by mail delivery service but if we take the $145.7 million revenue for the DVD service and divide by the average price paid by the customers, we can reach a rough estimate of between 1.1 to 1.3 million subscribers.
Giving DVD by mail the axe could be just a byproduct of Netflix’s pursuit of cutting costs. Given slower subscriber growth, Netflix is shifting towards cost cutting to increase profitability.
The allure of the DVD by mail service is that you can find some obscure movies that aren’t available on the streaming platform. You guys like old movies too, right? I know I do!
