Defense Sec. Austin: Age of suspect in Pentagon leaks case is ‘not the issue’

At a press briefing in Sweden on Wednesday, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said the age of Jack Teixeira, a 21-year-old Massachusetts National Guard Airman who leaked U.S. intelligence over social media, is not a focus in the investigation. “The vast majority of our military is young. It’s not exceptional that young people are doing important things in our military. That’s really not the issue,” the Defense Secretary said. Austin adds that Teixeira had Top Secret clearance in his position.
