At a news conference on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, representatives from the Canadian Association or the Study of the Liver (CASL) raise concerns about what they say is a growing number of liver-related diseases in Canada. They are calling on the federal government to implement a national strategy to address liver disease and raise awareness about this public issue that currently affects 1 in 4 Canadians. Participating in this press conference are CASL’s president Mark Swain, its president-elect Carla Coff, and chair of its community advisory board, Heather Watson.
