Should America Abolish the IRS?

Just days ago, we told you how the IRS had unveiled its plan to spend $80 billion to increase the size of the agency, including 30,000 new employees, with almost 9,000 being new auditors.

The new IRS commissioner for the Biden Administration, Danny Werfel, has been sworn in, and despite President Biden’s calls to increase the size of the agency, including armed field agents potentially willing to kill (for tax revenue?), new chief Danny Werfel tried to convince us all that there’s nothing to worry about – we can all take him at his word.

Tax collectors with the right to use deadly force? Collecting tax money at gunpoint? That is anti-American. That is a totalitarian intimidation tactic. And it also seems that Werfel chose his words, saying “civil-side” agents wouldn’t be armed. What does that even mean? The internal analysts who never leave their cubicles? Or the actual field agents who will be knocking on taxpayers’ doors? How comfortable would you be with an armed government agent questioning you about your income?

And we’re not naïve. We know the IRS has armed special agents to investigate real criminal cases. After all, Al Capone went down for tax evasion. Most of us would agree that if the IRS needs to arrest an infamous crime boss and mass murderer, sure, they can carry guns. But let’s be honest – the average American isn’t a safety threat, and the IRS shouldn’t need agents willing to use deadly force – THEIR WORDS – to “help” us with compliance issues.

This report should actually unnerve us. Especially since we know exactly who Biden’s beefed-up IRS will target – conservatives and Christians. After all, it’s what they did under his former boss, President Obama. As you know, we took the Obama-Biden IRS to court for targeting conservatives, and we won. We even forced the head of the IRS to publicly apologize for the wrongdoing and were hopeful that would be the end of it. But hope only goes so far. Here we are, watching the Biden Administration repeat history – a history he was part of the last time, so you’d think he would have learned. And we’re prepared to go back to court to shut it down once more.

Today’s full Sekulow broadcast includes more analysis of the new IRS chief’s statements, as well as the plan to spend $80 billion of our tax dollars. We’re also joined by ACLJ Senior Advisor for National Security and Foreign Policy Ric Grenell to discuss the discovery of a secret Chinese police station hidden right under our noses in New York City to target and harass Chinese dissidents and even American citizens. And there might be more.
