Adamski, his wife and a few close friends moved to a ranch, near Palomar Mountain in California in 1940, where they studied religion, philosophy and agriculture.

They bought 20 acres (8.1 ha) of land at the foot of Palomar Mountain, along Highway S6, in 1944 with money from Alice K. Wells, an Adamski student, and built a new home, a campground called Palomar Gardens, and a small diner called the Palomar Gardens

Adamski "often gave lectures on Eastern philosophy and religion, sometimes late into the night" to students, admirers and tourists at the campground and diner.

He also built a wooden observatory at the campground to house his six-inch telescope, and visitors and tourists to Palomar Mountain were often mistaken for Adamski, an astronomer associated with the famous Palomar Observatory at the top of the mountain.
