How Do Lions Care for Their Cubs?

In the vast expanse of the African wilderness, lionesses, the female lions, are the backbone of the pride. They are responsible for nurturing and protecting future generations of lions. When it’s time for a lioness to give birth, she does so away from the pride.

Cubs are born helpless and completely dependent on their mother for survival. The lioness keeps them hidden from all animals, including her own pride. When the cubs are about eight weeks old, the lioness finally introduces them to her pride.
