Mayor Lightfoot Defends Actions Dealing With Mass Teen Gatherings & Shootings

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot has defended her administration's handling of large weekend gatherings after three teenagers were shot. The mayor stated that the vast majority of the young people who came downtown did so to enjoy the city's nice weather, while a few came with different intentions. She added that the police department is working with community partners to redirect young people to safe spaces. Lightfoot emphasized that young people have a right to enjoy the city but must do so respectfully and safely. She encouraged parents to use the "My Chi My Future" app to find safe activities for their children.
