New BMW i7 M70 xDrive (2024) Powerful Electric 7 SERIES
BMW M is taking the electric vehicle game to the next level with the introduction of their new all-electric performance model, the BMW i7 M70 xDrive. This luxury sedan is set to spearhead the new BMW 7 Series range and is already the third performance model with all-electric drive by BMW M.
Equipped with an electric motor at both the front and rear axle generating a maximum system output of 485 kW/660 horsepower, the BMW i7 M70 xDrive is currently the most powerful model with an all-electric drive system in the overall BMW Group portfolio. With its M-specific chassis, the BMW i7 M70 xDrive offers a driving experience that is unique in the luxury segment.
The BMW i7 M70 xDrive is not only the most powerful electric vehicle in the BMW Group portfolio, but it is also the fastest all-electric BMW model, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.7 seconds, with a top speed electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph).
One of the most notable features of the BMW i7 M70 xDrive is its fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology, which has been advanced to increase both performance and efficiency. The BMW i7 M70 xDrive features highly integrated drive units on the front and rear axles, with the electric motor, power electronics, and transmission compactly combined in a common housing. This compact design allows the electric machine to generate extremely high power in a light and compact design and to provide it continuously up into high speed ranges.
The BMW i7 M70 xDrive also comes with advanced driving features such as M Sport Boost and M Launch Control, which enable maximum power delivery and thrilling performance without any loss of traction. Additionally, the new MAX RANGE function selectively limits drive power and top speed, combined with reducing comfort functions, to increase the vehicle's range by up to 25 percent.
With a usable energy content of 101.7 kWh, the BMW i7 M70 xDrive has a high-voltage battery located in the vehicle underbody that enables it to achieve a range of 488 to 560 kilometres as determined in the WLTP test cycle. The Combined Charging Unit's advanced charging software promotes efficiency and speed when charging the high-voltage storage unit as standard, with an output of up to 22 kW for alternating current and up to 195 kW for direct current. This makes it possible to top up the range by up to 170 kilometres (WLTP) within 10 minutes when stopping at a high-power charging station.
The BMW i7 M70 xDrive will be available for global market launch in the second half of the 2023 year. With this new performance record for all-electric vehicles in the BMW Group, BMW M is clearly transforming towards electric mobility, setting the standard for electric vehicles in the luxury segment.
