When diving make sure there is at least one bud attached to each piece
Fibrous pieces need to stay attached when possible
Plant deep enough to cover the top of the rhizome with two inches of soil
Stagger plantings 18 to 24 inches apart.
Make sure the bud it pointing up when planting
Mulch with 3 inches of shredded hardwood or leaf mulch
Can be started indoors from seed or can be directly sown into the ground.

Harvesting
Harvest in the fall
Dig the plant up with a garden fork or spade, being careful not to damage the root.
Shake free of soil and separate out any roots that are not black cohosh. You must keep it protected from sun and heat, and the roots need to not dry out during the cleaning process if they are going to be used to re-plant.
If you are wanting black cohosh to be dried, dry them at low heat with a high airflow. Around 80-90 Degrees Fahrenheit

Warnings: There are minimal issues with Black Cohosh, there is a small chance that is can interact with some medications. If you have liver conditions it is wise to consult your doctor before taking Black Cohosh even in small doses.
