Many of the biggest economists said the internet was a fad that would have no bigger impact on our lives than the Fax Machine. Nobel Prize Winning Economist Paul Krugman is a prime example of this. When the Dot Com Bubble began in 1995 and crashed in 2000, the prevailing wisdom was that the Internet was DEAD! A pipe dream. A silly thing that had big asperations yet nothing backing it up but delusions of grandeur. But behind the scenes development was still going on and when it came back, it rose 1,000 times larger than it ever was.

There was very little shopping over the internet and people didn't trust giving out their credit card details. Most websites were silly rudimentary pages and very few corporations registered their company domain name. Email was considered a niche. Google didn't exist, there was no such thing as Social Media, Digital Photos looked like shit. At the time, Amazon sold nothing but books. Imagine how rich you would be if you invested in Amazon when it was worth a few million $, today it's valued in the trillions of $'s. Nobody back then would have guessed it would become the powerhouse it is today.

Fast forward to today and everything revolves around the internet. Every company has a webpage. We do most of of shopping online. We watch movies and TV shows via the internet and anyone can create an video streaming channel that has the possibility of gaining more viewers than most shows on standard TV. We use it to look for information constantly. Your phone and car are connected to the web. It's hard to imagine our world without the internet.

One can draw strong parallels to other things that are still in their infancy and will one day take over the world.
