BREAKING: Popular Social Media Site “Parler” Is Gone - Here Are The Details
Social media site Parler, popular among conservative users, has been acquired by Starboard after the deal with rapper YE (formerly Kanye West) fell through. Starboard, a digital media conglomerate known for its conservative news websites, plans to temporarily pull down the Parler app for a strategic assessment before reintegrating its user base across existing platforms. The acquisition's terms have not been disclosed, but Starboard expects the deal to be accretive by the end of Q2 2023.
Parler, which gained traction as a free speech platform, has faced several challenges in recent years. Initially shut down by major tech companies in response to the Capitol riots in 2021, the platform has since struggled to regain its footing. The acquisition by Starboard represents another attempt to revitalize the platform and continue to serve marginalized or censored communities.
