Hi, it’s Patrik Hutzel from intensivecarehotline.com with another quick tip for families in intensive care.
So, we had a reader sending us an email saying, “I’m wondering whether I’m doing all and the best that I can for my mom who’s in ICU.” Now, this is a question we get quite frequently and whilst it’s a very broad and general question, I still want to address it because I think it’s so important.
So, when someone is in intensive care, there are dozens of things happening simultaneously because it’s such a highly specialized area. Patients are incredibly vulnerable, they are incredibly sick. They’re probably as close to death as they’ve ever been in their entire lives. So, you need to break down things in much detail in order to understand what’s really going on when your loved one or your mom in this situation is in intensive care.
The biggest challenge for families in intensive care is simply that they don’t know what they don’t know. They don’t know what questions to ask. They don’t know what to look for. They don’t know their rights and they don’t know how to manage doctors and nurses in intensive care.
And when you have a general question like this, you really need to talk to someone that understands intensive care inside out. That can point you to the right questions that like we do here at intensivecarehotline.com. That can extract all the right answers from the intensive care team. So that you have a really good understanding that you are doing everything that you can for your mom. Because at the end of the day, it’s all about having peace of mind, control, power, influence, and making informed decisions after all, when you have a loved one in intensive care.
And if you have a loved one in intensive care, go to intensivecarehotline.com. Call us on one of the numbers on the top of our website, or simply send us an email to [email protected].
Also, have a look at our membership for families in intensive care at intensivecaresupport.org. There you can get help as well.
And if you like a medical record review for your loved one, while they’re in intensive care or after intensive care, if you’re worried about medical negligence, or if you’re worried about that your loved one is not getting the right treatment options. Again, contact us. We can help you with all of that, including a second opinion.
So that’s my quick tip for today.
