EXTRA BIBLICAL TEXT – The Book of Tobit was not included in the Cannon of the scriptures as it was not considered, by biblical scholars, to be 'entirely inspired' by the Holy Spirit or the texts did not reveal the will of God through pure standards of biblical interpretation.

However, these books do include inspired spiritual instructions, revelations, and passages as-well-as excellent reference material for world history and human interaction of their time.

These texts should not be taken as 'the Word of God' as we have come to accept and know the cannon of scripture, but these books are a vital and very necessary look at the history and education for a greater understanding of biblical times, events, and cultures which are not revealed to us from the 'accepted' sixty-six books of the current cannon of inspired scriptures.

The Book of Tobit is a biblical apocryphal text that tells the story of Tobit, a righteous Israelite who lived in Nineveh. The book is believed to have been written by an unknown author during the second century BC.

The story begins with Tobit, who is blind and impoverished, sending his son Tobias to collect a debt owed to him in a distant city. Along the way, Tobias meets a man named Azariah, who is an angel sent by God to guide and protect him.

Azariah helps Tobias overcome several challenges, including a dangerous encounter with a giant fish. When they arrive at their destination, Tobias falls in love with a woman named Sarah, but she has been cursed by a demon who has killed all of her previous husbands.

With the help of the angel, Tobias is able to defeat the demon and break the curse. He and Sarah return to Nineveh and marry. In addition to the story of Tobit and Tobias, the book also contains teachings on charity, piety, and other virtues.
