LIVE : Khartoum Sudan as government and paramilitary RSF forces battle for the city with audio

Live from Khartoum in Sudan on Sunday, April 16, following explosions and gunfire near the paramilitary camp of the Rapid Support Forces of Sudan.

Clashes erupted on Saturday in Soba, south Khartoum after days of armed confrontations between the army and the paramilitary RSF group. Several people are reported wounded and three others were killed at the Khartoum airport. Neighboring Chad has closed its border.

The origins of the conflict stem from a disagreement regarding the integration process of the RSF into the army and its administration.

The RSF was formed by former militia groups who fought on the side of the government during the conflict in Darfur from 2003-2020. They were accused of war crimes against the non-Arab population.
