Needle ice: a little-known but very cool feature of Baikal!

In April and May, when the ice is cloudy and thin, access to it is prohibited and it seems that there is absolutely nothing to do on Baikal ...

… but, as it turns out, this is not entirely true.

Few people know about this, but in May you can see an absolutely amazing phenomenon on Lake Baikal. It is also found in some other places in Russia, but it is on Baikal, due to its size and features of the climatic zone, that it acquires an absolutely unimaginable scale.

This phenomenon is called "acicular ice" by the locals.
