01:54 Inspiration - I'm just like you, and you can do this too. I make mistakes and still get abundance. The trick is setting it up correctly, so that you have resilience to drought and disturbances.

06:50 Lets go into the no-water garden. Tomatoes grown up through a dense polyculture carpet? It works. It is resilient. Nature plants like this. Tomatoes evolved to grow in these conditions.

09:00 A brief aside on how to grow carrots, when to harvest, etc. These I am saving for seed now (because I missed them last fall), but you want to pick these as late as possible.

10:40 This is what failure looks like - and it's not so bad when you have a good soil sponge. If I had a traditional garden these would all be 100% dead. However, note the difference in density here, and the increased pest damage. Weaker plants = more pest damage. Strong plants are IMMUNE to pests due to strong cell walls. A pest cannot break through a healthy plant's leaf.

11:25 On Perennials vs Annuals in terms of hardiness and resilience to complete total and utter neglect.

12:45 Free plants? Cuttings to generate free plants - ideal location for cuttings is in thickly mulched dappled shade. Look at the success rate, it's almost 100%!

16:25 A 3-4 year before and after of various sections, as well as some of my favorite photos of the last few days. Note that the "before" photos are about 1 year into this journey. These trees started out planted in bare soil, surrounded by grass. I babied them and they struggled. I then discovered woodchip mulch, found permaculture and started mulching. At THIS point the before pictures were taken. I had taken my first step down the permaculture rabbit hole.

From that point to now is about 3 years. 5 years total on this journey so far, with the majority of the impact and planting (80%) being done in the last two only. Imagine this place 3 MORE years from now?!

So watch this video. Check out my brand new "essentials" playlist. This playlist is designed to get you up and running in no time flat. And get started on your permaculture journey today and change your life and your land forever. Build something that is legacy-worthy.
