US intel leak: Police arrest member of Air National Guard believed responsible

A member of the Air Force National Guard has been detained in connection with the continuing investigation into the leak of sensitive military information, according to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland, who made the announcement on Thursday.

Garland informed the media assembled in Washington, D.C., "Today, the Justice Department detained Jack Douglas Teixeira in connection with an investigation into suspected improper removal, retention, and communication of secret national security material.

According to him, Teixeira was held by FBI agents in Dighton, Massachusetts, earlier that day after being seized without incident. Aerial footage of the event purportedly showed the guardsman being apprehended. Teixeira is a guardsman in the Massachusetts Air National Guard, according to sources.

Brigadier General Pat Ryder, a spokesman for the Department of Defense, stated during a separate press conference that the leak was a "deliberate criminal act."

The disclosures allegedly included details on Israel, South Korea, Turkey, and other U.S. allies as well as the military might and weaknesses of Ukraine.
