How to Tie a Clove Hitch #shortsvideo
The clove hitch is often considered to be among the top knots that you need to know. It is a quick way to tie the end of a rope to a rail or post and is also used to start and finish lashings. The clove hitch is one of the most useful outdoor knots that you can learn and is used in many situations such as tying down a tarp, rock climbing, anchoring a boat, hanging a bear bag, etc.
Please note, the clove hitch is not very good when strain comes at an angle or the direction of the strain is erratic. This could loosen the clove hitch.
Steps to tying the clove hitch:
1. Pass the live end over and around the bar.
2. Bring it across itself and around the bar again.
3. Carry the live end up and under itself moving in the opposite direction to the standing end.
4. Close up and pull tight.
