Relativity theory is a set of scientific theories developed by Albert Einstein in the early 20th century that fundamentally changed our understanding of space, time, and gravity. There are two main branches of relativity theory: special relativity and general relativity.

Special relativity, published in 1905, describes how time and space are not absolute and can vary depending on an observer's frame of reference. It also introduces the famous equation E=mc², which shows the equivalence of mass and energy.

General relativity, published in 1915, extends the principles of special relativity to include gravity. It describes how mass and energy cause distortions in the fabric of spacetime, which can cause objects to move or change direction. General relativity has been crucial for understanding some of the most extreme phenomena in the universe, such as black holes and the Big Bang.
