The Legacy of the Colt Python: A Legend Reborn

The Legacy of the @TheColtFirearms Python began when Colt introduced it to the world in 1955. Designed for the premium revolver market, it instantly become a classic in American history. Gun enthusiasts around the globe embraced it as a favorite with it's superior quality and superb accuracy. It stayed in Colt's mainstream line up until 1999 when production was moved to Colt's custom shop until discontinued in 2005. Colt reintroduced this iconic revolver to the world in 2020 bringing the legacy of the Python forward in time.

What makes the Colt Python a legend, and what kind of legacy has it established over the years? There's a lot to be said for the Python revolver in the eyes of the collector and simple firearms enthusiast alike. They are sought after, highly valued and considered by many to be the finest production revolver ever made. The older the Python, the more valuable in most cases depending on the year, variation, condition and any limited production runs it may be from.

This revolver built its legacy on quality and superb craftsmanship and rivaled all counterparts of it's day. For most of its production years it was hand made and assembled encompassing hand fitment of parts with special craftsmanship. Manufacturing was different with less assembly line time but rather spent more of its time in the actual hands of skilled craftsmen. The most classic of these production years represent a time in American history where being American was a special way of life and quality was not spared for the dollar. No foreign or lower quality parts were used in the build of the Colt Python revolver. No corners were cut.

In 2020 Colt rebirthed the Python legend bringing it's legacy forward into modern times. The revolver was technically revised and reinforced to be stronger than ever. It's pressure ratings were greatly increased and the gun is now built tougher than ever before. The 2020 Python you see in this video is superb. It's stainless steel finish is elegant and beautiful commanding it's nostalgia from Colt's long established name in firearms. It's action is as smooth as glass. It has to be one of the best I've experienced right out of the box bar none. The trigger is lighter than original Python and with a greatly improved pull allowing for ease of use when firing both single and double action. It's semi bright stainless finish reflects its surroundings like a mirror and the gun just melts into the palm of your hand. This firearm points as if it were an extension of your own arm with it's 6 inch barrel extended beyond your hands. Colt did a masterful job bringing the legacy of the Python revolver into the current era. The copy in this video is a fine example of Colt's manufacturing and production capabilities in today's time. Congratulations to Colt and their manufacturing facilities.
