Glynn County officials have issued a shelter-in-place advisory following a fire at the Pinova plant in Brunswick, Georgia.

The advisory is for residents within a half-mile of the plant — located at 2801 Cook Street in Brunswick — and for St. Simons residents north of the St. Simons Airport.

Katie Baasen with Glynn County EMA tells WJCL the original fire broke out after 7 a.m. Saturday. Crews contained the fire by 9:45 a.m. but kept crews on the scene to monitor the property.
Around 3 p.m., Baasen said the fire reignited. Crews are still actively fighting the fire. Right now, officials don't know what has burned. The Pinova plant manufactures plastic resin.

Brunswick City and Glynn County fire departments are fighting the flames, and the Environmental Protection Agency, state fire marshal and emergency management director are on the scene.
