And also we cannot go back home in buses because they are always full of tourists," a protester said through a loudspeaker. "And your visit here is creating a very negative impact here in our lives," she continued. "This is not a fight between us and you or you and us, it's rather a collective problem.” According to reports, Barcelona receives more than eight million tourists per year. Local communities, such as those found in Carmel say they are the victim of soaring rent prices as a result of the influx of seasonal holidaymakers.
