A little about BATTLETECH - Thug, Warhammer's Rival

Despite my lack of information, I am led to believe that Jose Magellan, Thug Jose pilot, was part of one of Amaris (Rim Worlds Republic) army when the coup happened. If that's correct, the ending makes even more sense in all the meanings possible. Does any of you guys and gals have access to the historical documents and/or sources about this custom variant? I'd appreciate the confirmation. Thanks.
